Your score is the only weapon against The Architect – here’s how to pump it up and leave the biggest mark.
The Architect is the final encounter of a successful run in Slay the Spire 2’s Act 3, but you don’t defeat him in a traditional fight. Instead, you face a fully scripted scene where your character is cut down immediately, no matter how strong your deck feels.
Despite the quick kill, you still deal damage to The Architect — and that damage is tied directly to your entire run’s performance. The higher your final Score, the bigger the number you leave behind.
In this guide, we’ll break down how the encounter works, how damage is calculated, and the best ways to maximize your score so you can hit The Architect as hard as possible.
The Architect encounter: what happens

When you reach the final floor after beating the Act 3 boss (or back-to-back bosses on Ascension 10), a cutscene plays. Your character lunges at The Architect, but he ignores the attack completely.
The Architect shrugs off all damage, shows total indifference, and kills you in one hit. Once dead, you are sent back to the foot of the Spire to start a new run.
There is no way to survive or “win” this encounter. The only thing that changes from one run to the next is how much damage you can deliver before dying.
How damage is calculated

The damage you deal to The Architect is exactly equal to your final Score. If your run ends with a score of 3,250, that’s also the damage number displayed after the encounter. There’s no combat damage formula — it’s purely a reflection of your performance.
This damage also feeds into a global aggregate total shared by all players. As the Early Access builds pile up, that total continues to climb into the billions.
Maximizing your damage against The Architect

Since damage equals Score, “fighting” The Architect means squeezing every point out of your run. The key factors are:
- Floors climbed: 10 points per floor in Act 1, 20 in Act 2, and 30 in Act 3.
- Elites killed: 50 points each.
- Bosses slain: 100 points each.
- Flawless boss fights: Achieving a Perfect or Beyond Perfect status on a boss boosts your score significantly.
- Ascension multiplier: Each Ascension level adds a 10% score bonus, up to a x2 multiplier at Ascension 10.
- Gold collected: 1 point for every 100 Gold earned during the run.
Prioritize floor pathing, elite hunting, and taking as little damage as possible against bosses to push your final number higher.
Character dialogue and lore

Every character has unique dialogue when confronting The Architect, offering small windows into their history.
- The Ironclad: The Architect pities him, calling him a “death puppet” and the “arch demon’s thrall.”
- The Silent: He questions where she came from and what she’s after.
- The Regent: Demands to know if this is the “top” and is shut down with a demand for quiet and manners.
- The Necrobinder: Blames The Architect for her parents’ death; he responds that he “did what I must to maintain order.”
- The Defect: The Architect asks if Neow keeps bringing the construct back, noting he previously “dismantled” it.
Long before Slay the Spire 2, The Architect’s voice appeared in the original game through several Relics. Coffee Dripper, Tiny Chest, Tiny House, Calipers, and Pantograph all carried quotes from him, hinting at his role deep inside the Spire.
