We pinpoint the exact cards and relics to make Grand Finale a consistent board wipe for The Silent.
Grand Finale delivers some of the highest area-of-effect damage in Slay the Spire 2 — 60 damage to all enemies for 0 energy, jumping to 75 when upgraded. The catch is brutal: you can only play it when your draw pile is completely empty.
That condition forces a completely different approach to The Silent. You stop playing a normal deck and start engineering constant deck cycles until every last card sits in your hand or discard pile.
In this guide we’ll cover how to build a deck that triggers Grand Finale reliably, which cards and relics make it consistent, and what pitfalls ruin the combo mid-fight.
How Grand Finale works

The card checks your draw pile at the moment you try to play it. If even one card remains, it stays grayed out. You need to empty that pile every single turn you want to fire it.
Its stats are straightforward: 0 energy cost, 60 base damage to all enemies, 75 when upgraded. The real investment is the entire deck construction, not the card slot.
Deckbuilding foundations

A thin deck is everything. Aim for 5 to 15 cards so the pile shuffles every two or three turns. Prioritize removing basic Strikes and Defends at The Merchant on every opportunity.
The Meat Cleaver relic is a top priority. It lets you Cook at Rest Sites, permanently deleting unwanted cards and keeping the deck lean throughout the run.
Key draw and discard engines

You need cards that cycle the deck rapidly. These are the core tools:
- Acrobatics: Draws 3 (4 upgraded) and discards 1. Digs deep and activates discard synergies.
- Calculated Gamble: 0 energy, discards your hand and draws that many cards. Can instantly empty the pile at the right moment.
- Prepared: 0 energy, draw 1 (2) and discard 1 (2). Precise, cheap pile control.
- Reflex and Tactician: When discarded, Reflex draws cards and Tactician gives energy, keeping momentum for further cycles.
Retention and precise control

Holding Grand Finale until the pile hits zero is the whole game. Two options stand above the rest. Well-Laid Plans lets you retain up to 1 (2) cards at turn end. Runic Pyramid prevents discarding your hand entirely, so you can wait for the exact turn the deck empties. For fine-tuning, Backflip and Escape Plan adjust the pile count by small numbers when it’s nearly empty.
Synergies and combat tricks

The Sly keyword makes cards play for free when discarded. Cycling with Acrobatics while discarding Sly cards provides free block or damage while you hunt for the empty pile. Nightmare can create extra copies of Grand Finale in your hand once the pile empties, letting you fire it multiple times that turn. The Music Box relic replays the first attack of each turn as an Ethereal copy — if Grand Finale is that attack, it hits twice.
Roadblocks to avoid

Relics that draw cards unexpectedly break the combo. Centennial Puzzle, Gremlin Horn, and Joss Paper can fill your hand or empty the pile at the wrong moment, locking you out of the play. Enemies that add Statuses or Curses bloat the draw pile. Fights against Test Subject or The Insatiable disrupt your cycle math and demand alternative solutions.
Mastering Grand Finale turns The Silent into a whirlwind of zero-cost board wipes, but the discipline needed touches every other card choice. For the full Silent toolkit — poison builds, shiv engines, and boss-specific loadouts — the Slay the Spire 2 hub at Solo Jugadores breaks down the rest of the climb.
