Choose the right curse and burst the Knowledge Demon before the third debuff cycle ends your run.
The Knowledge Demon in Slay the Spire 2 hits you with escalating status choices while healing 30 HP every few turns. If you let the fight drag, the debuffs stack until your deck collapses.
Speed and the right curse picks decide the outcome. Picking wrong can lock you out of cards, Energy, or drain your health each turn.
In this guide we’ll cover the boss’s moveset, how to navigate the Curse of Knowledge choices, and the burst strategies that shut this fight down before the third round of debuffs.
Moveset of the Knowledge Demon

The boss has 400 HP and executes a fixed four-move cycle. It repeats the cycle until all three sets of Curse of Knowledge status cards have been offered. After that, it skips the first move and loops the remaining three indefinitely.
- Curse of Knowledge: you choose one of two escalating negative status cards to receive.
- Slap: deals 17 damage (18 on higher Ascensions).
- Knowledge Overwhelming: deals 8 damage three times (9 damage ×3 on higher Ascensions).
- Ponder: deals 11 damage (13 on higher Ascensions), heals the boss for 30 HP per player, and grants it 2 Strength (3 on higher Ascensions).
Curse of Knowledge status set choices

Every few turns you must pick a permanent negative effect that worsens with each following set. The three sets present these options, and Disintegration always reappears with increasing damage.
- First choice: Disintegration (6 damage at end of turn) or Mind Rot (draw 1 fewer card each turn).
- Second choice: Disintegration (7 damage at end of turn) or Sloth (you cannot play more than 3 cards each turn).
- Third choice: Disintegration (8 damage at end of turn) or Waste Away (gain 1 less Energy per turn).
Which curse you should pick

The right call depends on your build, but some rules hold across most runs. Picking Mind Rot first makes sense only if you lack the Energy to play your whole hand each turn. Otherwise, protecting card draw is always the priority.
Sloth is the fastest route to defeat. Limiting yourself to 3 cards per turn cripples almost every deck, so avoid it unless you have a very specific one-turn kill setup.
Taking Disintegration twice results in 13 damage at the end of every turn. That is manageable if your deck generates high Block, making it far safer than cutting your cards or Energy.
If the fight reaches the third set and the boss is still alive, Disintegration remains the best bet. Only pick Waste Away if you are absolutely certain you can win within the next three turns.
Combat strategy: outpacing the heal

Kill the boss before the third Curse of Knowledge triggers. The cumulative debuffs and the 30 HP heal on every Ponder turn overwhelm decks that drag the fight out. You need scaling damage—Poison, Doom, or Strength—to outpace the recovery.
A strong mix of Block cards and Weak application is vital to survive Knowledge Overwhelming’s multi-hits and the passive damage from Disintegration.
If your scaling is too slow, pivot to burst. Pop damage potions like a Flex Pot or a Gigantic Vacation Potion on a turn you can unload, then finish the boss before the next Ponder turn.
The Knowledge Demon punishes slow, greedy play. The rest of Act 2’s gauntlet asks similar tight checks on your deck’s speed and sustain—the full Slay the Spire 2 boss breakdown lives at Solo Jugadores.
