007 First Light: how to beat Damien Webb (final boss)

How to beat Damien Webb across every phase of the For England finale, from the Valhalla car battle to the turrets.

Damien Webb already cheated death once, and now he’s back for THEIA with James trapped inside MI6’s floodable underground. The final confrontation in 007 First Light, IO Interactive’s spy thriller, plays nothing like the stealth that came before.

It’s long, it changes the rules several times, and it punishes anyone who charges in blind. In this guide we walk you through the boss fight itself; for the rest of the chapter’s objectives and collectibles, see our For England walkthrough. We go phase by phase, so none of its twists catch you off guard. We’ll build it up in order: what to bring into the fight first, and then each stretch of the showdown as it comes.

Setup: your loadout before the fight

The protagonist crouches amid red laser sightlines inside a ruined warehouse in 007 First Light during a tense stealth infiltration.

Before any of this kicks off, you pass through the Q Lab Showdown and pick your gear from the gadget cart. Grab the Smoke Pods, the Dart Phone, and the Laser Strap for the Be Q-uiet challenge.

Keep in mind the Q Watch hacks everything in the lab and recharges over time. Once you find the keys to Valhalla in Q-07 Wearables and slip past the final lockdown, the car chase begins.

Phase 1: the Valhalla Room car battle

A white Land Rover Defender drives across a rocky desert toward a rusting ship graveyard in 007 First Light, kicking up dust.

Valhalla is a car, and a gadget-stuffed one at that. You start with only machine guns, but they’re plenty to start tearing the room apart. Drive in circles and fire on the waves of Damien’s men pouring out of every doorway.

If you’re chasing the Astonishing challenge (three kills with one explosion), spam missiles at the doorways once they come online, then reload and retry if you fall short. When the room is finally clear, James sets Valhalla to repair, only for Damien to blow up the machinery with a rocket. The car ends up pinned under the wreckage, so James continues on foot.

Phase 2: the Sewers chase

Armed guards in formation inside a classical hall in 007 First Light as the protagonist aims his pistol.

The Sewers stretch is a straightforward platforming gauntlet with no real surprises. Head through the tunnels, vault the railing, and kick in the red door at the end.

When you hit an apparent dead end, double back to the right, take the narrow walkway, and kick through the wall at its end. The first time you catch Damien he slams a gate in your face and taunts you; climb the platform on the side, kick through the wall, and press on. A short climb up a ladder drops you into the boss arena proper.

Phase 3: strip the armor with hacking, then gadgets

The Last Stand opens with a cutscene proving your guns barely scratch his armored suit. But when he gets close, your watch starts hacking something on him, which is the game telling you exactly how to win.

In this first phase you deplete the suit using only hacking (that also earns Fire in the Hole). Stay tucked behind the pipe you start beside, and slip around the side or vault over if he spots you. The hack only needs a few seconds; when it lands, the jammer on his arm blows out and your gadgets come back online.

Now Damien turns aggressive. Drop Smoke Pods to break his line of sight, and hack the devices around the room whenever he stands near them to chip his health. The big play: hack an oil pump, let him run through the spill, then blow the ceiling pipe above him for massive damage. Empty his bar and approach to trigger a cutscene, after which the floor collapses.

Phase 4: the two turret gauntlets

Blinding muzzle flash fills the frame during a firefight in 007 First Light, lighting the action beneath a bridge.

Down below, James spots bombs rigged to flood the facility and a machine gun turret that Damien has commandeered. Run left between the gun volleys, hitting each yellow console to raise cover walls.

After the last metal plate, veer left into the gap in the pipes, then take the zipline to reach the platform. Rush the turret’s power source, flip it to your side, and fire on Damien so the turret mirrors your shots (do this in under two minutes for Turret Aficionado). Damien blows that turret and rolls out a second one, so repeat the routine, dropping Smoke Pods liberally and taking the covered left path at Substation 3. At the explosive barrels, shoot one to clear the way, drop to the power source, and light him up again.

The finale: survive the collapse

With his health gone, Damien plays the coward and sets off his own explosives. A button-mashing sequence frees James from the rubble, followed by quick time events in the struggle.

Fail one and Damien kills you, sending you back to the rubble sequence, so stay sharp. Clear the final prompts and the fight is yours — what happens next is a cutscene we’ll leave for you to see for yourself.
